@London Instameet WWIM13LONDON

I cannot believe being a photographer that I have not visited the big smoke sooner.

Saturday was #wwim13london hosted by Dave Burt from @London and his team of incredible people. Leaving home at silly o’clock with my mate Rob we headed to the capital. Coffee was definitely needed, as it would be nearly 4 hours till we got to our destination. After parking the car it was time to experience my first Uber! What a genius idea and its defiantly for me, I am hoping we can get it back in the countryside.

We arrived at the stunning hotel and headed for the meeting room to sign in. There was already a huge crowd as it was nearly go time. We were then invited in and everyone gathered in the large meeting room and we got underway. After an introduction to the @London team we were then briefed on how the day would unfold.

Go time!

We were set loose on London, myself and Rob headed straight for the tube to get over to the new walkie tower. The tower stands and an impressive 160 meters tall and has some stunning views of the big smoke. After an hour flew past and lots of photo taking opportunities we headed back on the tube to see fellow photographer and friend Matt Spracklen host a talk at Southbank. After Matts formative talk on his photography and music we were joined by the talented and new artist Mahilia, what a voice! she played a very small live acoustic set for us on Southbank whilst the glorious sun was shinning what a treat.

It was then lunch and a regroup in St jame’s park for part 2 of the day #dosomethingfornothing. As there was a large group of us gathered in London the organisers from Do Something For Nothing (Joshua, Dave, And Matt) asked if we could go out and all do something positive for the afternoon. We were set locations and challenges for the next couple of hours. I was sent off to Carnaby street with a small group of photographers. We decided we wanted to help the homeless by providing them with food, water and a good old chat. I met Brian a homeless man with 4 lovely little dogs. I also purchased my first ever Big Issue! After chatting with Brian we let him be and went to help others in the area.

After spending the afternoon doing something incredibly positive we headed over to the Hospital Club for the evenings Antics hosted by @London I took to photographing the nights entertainment. The Bloom Twins and then the Xcerts were booked and what Incredible live acts they are it topped the whole day off.

But Rob and me were not finished there, we took to the city at night and walked what seemed miles and miles photographing the city and the Iconic landmarks at night. I couldn’t believe how busy London is at 3am. After being up all day we decided it was time to venture home.

An immense 24 hours in London and I have so many people to thank for making it and incredible day. I also wanted to thank all the new faces I met and for getting to know them!

Here is a selection of images from the day in the big smoke,

THANK YOU TEAM @LONDON
