I haven’t done an in-depth camera review before so here goes.
I am always looking at new equipment and developing my skills. People argue it isn’t worth spending alot of money on the latest camera gear but I do not agree with that. I look at it as an investment and having professional camera equipment helps separate myself from others. I also prefer to achieve better results in camera and that requires less post processing. As a photographer I demand the very best from my images.
So what did I test today? Well here it is!
Canon’s latest and most powerful camera on the market, hosting a huge range of features including a 4K and lightening-fast AF acquisition when shooting stills at up to 16fps. All of this is made possible by the camera’s dual DIGIC 6 processors, full-frame 20.2-megapixel CMOS sensor with Dual Pixel CMOS AF, extended ISO range of up to 409,600 and dual card slots (CF and CFast). The 1D X Mk II also has a 3.2″, 1,620K-dot LCD touchscreen, Full HD 1080p movie recording, a weather-resistant magnesium-alloy body, built-in GPS….. yeh it certainly backs a punch!!
I am certainly in love and more impressed, I made the camera work hard for the shots and was blown away by the results. Such sharp and detailed images whilst clean and vibrant. Here are a few shots from the 1dxmk2 below.
The images were taken on a dull and dark day mostly in wooded areas except for the first meadow image. The camera performed beyond my expectations with lighting fast auto focus, incredible detail and clean images!
The size and weight felt fantastic, lots of accessible controls and easy to shoot functions. They are all encased in a rugged yet sleek and superb looking weather-resistant magnesium-alloy body for shooting in all conditions. I loved the clunk of the shutter – it sounds like a heavy hitter however wedding shooters note – is has a silent shutter mode ;).
This camera is a must for people who demand the very best from any shooting situation!
A HUGE thank you to Jayne Bond who let me trial the camera for the afternoon. Here is a link to her website where you can see some incredible wildlife photography – Jayne bond photography
