A Day Out In Dorset With Explore Dorset

Ahh the festive break has arrived, Its  time to put the feet up and crack out the wine and festive treats!

Nope not for me, I made use of having a few extra days by heading to one of my favorite Dorset locations the famous Durdle Door.

I joined up with Ben & Joanna from Explore Dorset which is a very popular Instagram page. We were also joined by Lewis who was visiting from America, but grew up in the UK. All set and ready to go we headed off  and ventured down to the door.

A 90 second exposure using a Lee filter Big stopper and Hard Grad 0.9 Shot on my Canon 5ds

This is by far one of my favorite places to shoot in Dorset, I really do not think there is anywhere else in the wold with a view like this. I have photographed it many times and always enjoy capturing different images from here.

It is also one of the most physical landscapes to shoot, lots of walking up and down hills for different composition and images. However the view from the top of Bats head simply breathtaking looking back on the Jurassic coast.

The steep climb to the top of bats head is certainly worth it for the view of the Jurassic Coastline.

As always my images are for sale as either photographic prints, canvases or for editorial use. Please just get in contact with your requirements on Contact@matthardyphotography.co.uk

Supermoon Rise In Bournemouth 2016

So last night I witnessed one of the most spectacular moon rises in my photographic career to date,

I ventured out to a spot in Bournemouth using a phone app to align and find the best position. I met up with my good friend at Kevin who is a dedicated moon and astro photographer, he was leading a small class of photographers and giving them tuition on how to get the best possible super moon image.

So we waited, all set and ready to go I was not going to miss this fantastic opportunity and went for a 2 camera set up.

To my luck as it rose as a fisherman came into shot and made for the perfect foreground. I knew as soon as I pressed the shutter I was on to a winning shot. I was filled with excitement and couldnt wait to see this image on the big screen.

It was done, the moon ventured into the clouds and I packed up and headed home. I couldn’t wait to edit and upload this for the world to see.

supermoon

Pleased to say this image went viral and was shared all over the world. my social media platforms went crazy and I was pleased to see all the positive comments and feedback.

It was also share on THE LAD BIBLE which has over 17 million fans of the page… yeh chuffed with that!

Here is another image showing Bournemouth Pier as the moon rose.

#WWIM14 @LONDON FOOD SHOOT

Saturday 17th os September was WWIM14 (World Wide Instameet #14) Set by Instagram and it was a food theme for this meet. I was invited along with 50 other foodie instagrammers to experience some of Londons best places to eat and also celebrate the wonderful diversity of London’s food.

Starting at the Mondorian hotel for breakfast, where we were given £10 and a bag which we had to fill with fresh produce from th incredible Borough Marketas part of #MarketToMichelin. This would then be given to the team at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen

It was then over the to stunning Fortnum & Mason for champagne afternoon tea. who kindly donated £10 vouchers to all everyone. We used the money to buy gifts for the volunteers of @ShelterCharity .

After stuffing our faces in their amazing cakes we ventured to Camden Market for @KerbFood in Camden for #MarketToMichelin! I was in heaven street food is my thing and camden lock is just Incredible.

From Camden it was over to Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen, Here we got everyone back together and gave all the produce purchased to the chefs. We have donated all of this to @CentralStreetCookerySchool who do incredible work teaching vulnerable people how to cook.

Huge thank you to everyone who organised yesterday for us. What a day it was.

Special Thanks to DaveRon Matt and Danny.

@lovefordorset Instagram

I love where I grew up and I love photographing it, Dorset has some of the most gorgeous countryside in the UK. I am still finding new areas of the county to photograph in the different seasons throughout the year.

Instagram is HUGE, if your a photographer and your not on it then you should be. I share my images on there for people to see all over the world. This is where I found a small but growing community page run by another local now friend Dave. @lovefordorset features Dorset in beautiful photographs from local photographers and residents of the area. I have now teamed up alongside Dave and help run the page sharing my own Dorset landscapes and featuring what other people have captured.

If your a fellow dorset lover and photographer then please follow the page and tag you images for the chance to be featured.
